Ka-Boom Breakfast and Co.!

I decided to take a detour from eating fried fatty crap at the Ex and eat some hoity-toity crap.  Actually the breakfast at this place was very delicious but slightly pricey (total cost: $30 with tax and tip) and unfortunately the service did not match the food. Last weekend the gf and I when to Boom Breakfast Co. at 1036 St. Clair Avenue West, Toronto – (416) 657-3447, to attempt to eat something healthy for breakfast. We kept seeing this place with massive lineups and wondered what the big deal was….so we decided to check it out.  The restaurant was clean and somewhat spacious, luckily it was still warm outside so the patio was open or the line ups would have extended down the street that morning.  The menu was extensive with everything from your typical breakfast stuff to Panini’s to pastas but we were looking for something different for breakfast. My gf decided on a Eggs Benny with fresh spinach and Boom Frites. Which looked really good and according to her thought it was….okay (she always says that about everything grrrr). I managed to taste some of her breakfast and I thought it was delicious. Anyways I had a Kissadilla, which had local farm fresh scrambled eggs with  house-made chorizo sausage, green and red peppers and onions on a whole wheat tortilla. Bonus the salsa, sour cream and refried beans came on the side along with those awesome Boom frites!  It was….really good! I liked that you had the sauces on the side instead of mashed inside the tortilla as it allowed you to taste the spicy sausage and onions. So far all of the food we ordered was exceptional however the best thing on that menu for us was the plate of Buttermilk pancakes…one word…HEAVEN!  So fluffy and light that it melted in your mouth with yummy goodness (chocolate and blueberry was also available!). The all natural maple syrup added just the right amount of maple sweetness that I highly recommend these babies!  Warning: Highly addictive!  Unfortunately even though the food was great, the down fall of this place was the service or the lack of it.  First of all there was no cutlery or mugs at the table. We had to ask for them.  Also it took them 25 minutes to get our tea after we ordered it.  A lot of customers would not have returned for these faux pas but I still would recommend this place as it may have been a bad day for the servers and I like giving second chances….so I will be returning with my own cutlery the next time : )

If you get a chance to go to where I’ve eaten, let me know your thoughts about the place. Cheers!
